GW Tourism for Tomorrow (GW TFT), the graduate student organization associated with the Department of Tourism and Hospitality Management, has experienced several administrative changes this past year and hosted several activities during the Fall semester. Changes include the addition of core values, three new officer positions, a designated e-mail address and website, membership forms, an office mailbox, and a Facebook group.
Students participated in two research seminars in partnership with Dr. Don Hawkins, welcoming international guests Dr. Nuno Fazenda de Almeida, Professor at the Technical University of Lisbon in Portugal, and Dr. David Simmons, Professor of Tourism at Lincoln University in New Zealand. In October, GW TFT hosted a presentation with whl.travel, including CEO of whl.travel, Len Cordiner, and Regional Director of WHL-Africa and DTHM Sustainable Destination Management alumnus, Zachary Rozga. GW TFT also hosted with the Department of Tourism and Hospitality Management, the 2007 Fall Colloquium, Southeast Asia: New Models for Modern Markets.
In addition, several social gatherings were held, including a welcome social to kick off the year and a year-end party, and a joint gathering with GW Tourism Alumni Network (GW TAN), the Department’s alumni organization.
