Tourism Investment Promotion

Course Description:

This course assists destinations at the national and local level in reducing barriers to investment or business development and in attracting the funding necessary for tourism-related infrastructure investment and private sector development. Topics include:

  • Assessing the technical capacity of tourism organizations and investment promotion agencies in promoting tourism projects
  • Using international and regional resources, such as the MIGA' IPAnet
  • Identifying and accessing funding capital investment, loans, credits, BOTs, foreign aid, and similar mechanisms
  • Reducing barriers to domestic and foreign direct investment by the private sector--e.g. investment laws, business regulation and macroeconomic policies
  • Organizing a long-term investment promotion campaign
  • Understanding requirements for preparing investment projects for pre-feasibility review and presentation to investors.
