George Washington Tourism Alumni Network (GWTAN) was formed in the spring of 2006 by a small group of interested tourism alumni of the Department of Tourism and Hospitality Management who had a vision to create a global network of contacts in the tourism industry. As sponsors and participants in the Spring 2006 Colloquium, an initial board meeting was held with interested alumni who appointed officers, whose term was July 1, 2006-June 30, 2007. Bylaws were created, a relationship with the Director of Alumni Programs was established, a survey was conducted to gauge interest and direction, and at the second board meeting officers were elected for the FY08 term.
The President of GWTAN has a standing invitation to sit on the Department's Advisory Council that helps to forge the future of the tourism program along with respected and other influential tourism leaders. GWTAN is open to all tourism alumni and it is GWTANs vision that all students will remain active as alumni.
